Wetland Walkabout
The Conservancy helps celebrate American Wetlands Month on the first Saturday in May. This includes our annual chalk drawing contest - guests of all ages and drawing skill levels are welcome to join the fun - as well as rain barrel demonstrations and other activities. Bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy a picnic.
Don’t forget your binoculars to view the wildlife.
We will be joining forces with other conservation organizations: US Fish and Wildlife Service, Galveston Bay Foundation, Galveston Bay Estuary Program, Bayou City Waterkeepers, Armand Bayou Nature Center, and Texas Community Watershed Partners as we celebrate our neighborhood wetlands.
Squawk Walk
The Squawk Walk is an event at the Green that celebrates the role that the Houston area plays in the lives of birds. The event is co-sponsored by Houston Audubon and is held in September during Bird Week. Attendees are encouraged to register for guided bird walks (approximately one mile in length) on our ADA accessible trails. Texas Master Naturalists are on hand to answer questions and help spot and identify bird species. The event is appropriate for guests five years old and older.
The public is welcome to walk all our lake loop trails throughout the day. Be sure to remember to bring your cameras, binoculars, drinking water, and walking shoes.
Glow-the-Green
The Conservancy hosts an annual Glow-the-Green in the evening of the last Saturday in October. Hundreds of luminarias are set up around the one-mile trail of the Green’s Phase 1 (located at 16205 Diana Lane). Local businesses and organizations provide candy and treats to community participants along the path. Glow-the-Green is held in conjunction with the Clear Lake City Community Association’s Fall Festival and the Running Alliance’s Boo Dash fun run.
Donate
Creating the Green’s 200-acre park and conservation area has been a major undertaking. Unlike city or county-owned parks, the Conservancy must raise all the funds for the amenities and services offered - native trees and grass, hike and bike trails, educational programs, and other infrastructure like park benches and signage.
Would you like to help? We are always looking for people and organizations to provide financial support for the Green!
